Mancuso Show Management is excited to announce the expansion of the Quilt & Sewing Fest of New Jersey’s quilt competition to include entrants from the entirety of the northeastern United States – New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont & Maine.

The Quilt & Sewing Fest of New Jersey – Featured Faculty for 2016

Mancuso Show Management has announced that Liza Prior Lucy of New Hope, Pennsylvania is the featured instructor, and Meg Cox from Princeton, New Jersey is the featured lecturer at the 2016 Quilt & Sewing Fest of New Jersey, March 3-6, 2016 in Somerset, New Jersey.

A well-known quilter in her own right, Liza Lucy is also famed asLizaPriorLucy Kaffe Fassett’s collaborator in quilt design and is co-author with him of many books including Glorious Patchwork. Liza specializes in re-interpreting traditional quilt patterns using contemporary fabrics and unexpected color combinations. Visit Liza’s online fabric store, GloriousColor.com. Liza is teaching two full day, 9 am – 4 pm, workshops at the Quilt Fest: Glorious Hexagons on Friday and, on Saturday, Bright Squares.

 Meg Cox is a journalist and thought leader on quilting and traditions who lectures at guilds, shows and museums. Two New Lectures Added to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival

Paula Golden and Anna Hergert have stepped up when we needed them and will present lectures at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, February 25-28, 2016 in Hampton, Virginia.

Paula Golden will present the annual “Early Bird Lecture” at 6:00 pmMAQF-PaulaGolden on Wednesday, February 24, immediately preceding the M-AQF Show & Merchants Mall Preview (open to pre-registered participants only.) In Body Smart Quilting, Paula will discuss how proper body mechanics and ergonomic workspaces (computer, sewing, ironing and quilting) are the keys to quilting longevity. You will also learn ten easy tips to make your workspace healthy and efficient.

The 2014 Canadian Quilting Teacher of the Year, Anna Hergert’sAnnaHergert lecture is Everything Old is New Again: It’s Hip to Stitch! Keeping traditional techniques alive and ultimately sharing these has been a strong focus of this presenter. Years of in-depth personal research to augment workshop content and current bodies of work are the impetus for Anna Hergert’s renewed passion in hand stitching and hand embellishment. Be inspired to explore traditional embroidery to gather ideas on how to transfer simple techniques for complex outcomes with this visual feast. Join Anna on Friday, February 26 at 6:00 pm.

Due to serious illness, Mark Lipinski has cancelled all his teaching engagements for the first two months of 2016. While no one can truly replace Mark, Paula and Anna have agreed to lecture in his place.

The 2016 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival Introduces “Mid-Century Mod” to the Quilt Competition

Mancuso Show Management is happy to announce that the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival‘s annual competitions will award over $18,400 in prizes to quilt and wearable art entrants. This year the Festival will include a new category: “Mid-Century Mod”. The Festival, held February 25 – 28, 2016 in Hampton, Virginia, welcomes the new genre to be displayed amongst the always unique and magnificent collection of quilt, wearable and textile arts. Modern quilting has made its mark in today’s quilting world and entrants in the category are asked to draw inspiration from the Mid-Century Mod period of mid-20th century design and reflect their own exposures or from the work of artists such as Joan Miro, Piet Mondrian, Victor Vasarely, and Frank Stella.

M-AQF’s 2016 Quilt Competition theme, “Sew Far, Sew Good”, is a MAQF15_3003areflection on how M-AQF has progressed leaps and bounds over its 27 years of existence. Entrants are asked to explain how far their quilt making journey has taken them and where they are today as artists. It’s sure to be a beautiful, heartwarming and inspiring exhibit! The accepted quilt entries compete in Traditional, Innovative, Modern and Wall Quilt Categories as well as for the “Best of Show” title, with prizes totaling more than $15,500. The winning works of the quilt competition will travel to The Quilt & Sewing Fest of New Jersey in Somerset, March 3-6, so that another region’s quilt artists can get an up close look at these stunning pieces of art.

Prepared to be dazzled with the exceptional entries from the Wearable Art Competition that will also be on display at M-AQF. The handiwork and detail put into these amazing vests, jackets, coats and full ensembles will astound! The best from among these works will be awarded over $2,800 in prizes. Mancuso Show Management Awards World Quilt Florida Shuttle Bus Contract to ESCOT Bus Lines

Mancuso Show Management is happy to announce that the shuttle bus contract for World Quilt Florida has been awarded to ESCOT Bus Lines. Because World Quilt’s Orlando venue, the Orange County Convention Center, is such a vast facility, Mancuso Show Management elected to provide shuttle service for attendees. The shuttle bus will take attendees to and from the West Concourse parking area to the show’s entrance located in West Concourse/Hall E2, running on a continuous loop throughout the day.

For the convenience of our event patrons, the shuttle will run every show day between the following times:
• Thursday, January 7th: 8:00am – 7:00pm (last pick up at 6:30pm)
• Friday, January 8th: 8:00am – 9:00pm (last pick up at 8:30pm)
• Saturday, January 9th: 8:00am – 7:00pm (last pick up at 6:30pm

The Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival Celebrates Twenty-Seven Years of Quilt, Wearable & Textile Art

Welcome to MAQFMancuso Show Management announces the always spectacular Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, February 25 – 28, 2016. Not only does this incredible event feature astounding works of quilting art, it also offers a wide array of workshops presented by world-renowned instructors along with a fabulous Merchants Mall for plenty of shopping. The Festival’s centerpiece, however, will again be its outstanding collection of over 500 quilts and works of wearable and textile art on display. In addition to the competition entries, there will be special exhibitions of quilts and textile art on display. This ever-popular quilting arts event is one not to be missed!

“The Hampton Roads Convention Center, which hosts this fabulous event, is an ideal venue for a quilt festival of this magnitude,” states David Mancuso, President of Mancuso Show Management. The Orange County Convention Center Welcomes “World Quilt Florida” to Orlando!

Mancuso Show Management announces a new location for 2016 World Quilt Florida – Orrrlannndooo! A premier vacation destination, Orlando is home to many attractions and theme parks, over 170 golf courses, and an eclectic range of restaurants, nightlife and entertainment. Most importantly, Orlando is centrally located so World Quilt Florida can be easily accessed from all directions. MSM is thrilled to bring World Quilt Florida to such an amazing city January 7-9, 2016, to be held in Hall E2, West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center. Show days will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. The quilt show will once again include the Florida Quilt Competition, open only to residents of Florida. Quilters wanting inspiration with a large dose of entertainment will not want to miss Mark Lipinski’s special afternoon presentation on Saturday, January 9, “Bull in a China Shop (or The Unexpected Journey of an Out of Control Quilter Traveling the World and What He Encountered Along the Way).” Mark truly lives up to his reputation for being a talented quilter, instructor and entertainer. You are invited to celebrate the world of quilting as the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XXII returns to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA, September 17-20, 2015. This longstanding event remains a spectacular show of creation, innovation, and education. Show-goers will enjoy a unique and beautiful display of over 600 quilts and works of textile and wearable art from across the globe. Plus, as past visitors know, the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza would not be complete without its amazing Merchants Mall filled to the brim with vendor booths, offering everything the quilter, textile artists and needle crafter needs to quench their creative thirsts.

This year’s national prize money competition has been titled “ReadyPNQE14_1032a … Set … Quilt!,” challenging quilt artists to respond to “Creating a new quilt takes lots of planning from designing to selecting fabrics to … How do you get yourself to the starting line? What is your process?” In addition, special exhibitions will fill the aisles with hundreds of works by quilt artists from around the globe.
