Sample of Cool Classic Rides 2: Mustang

Mustang, Corvette, Motorcycles and other Cool Classic Rides will be making a pit stop at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza this September 15-18, 2016.  These amazing auto quilts will be on display all four days of the Quiltfest at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks / Valley Forge, PA.

Teresa Shippy exclaims, “They’re back, bigger and bolder than ever in Cool Classic Rides 2!” CCR2 was motivated by Cool Classic Rides 1’s success, excitement and favorable comments from all.  CCR2 comprises a number of classic alternative rides in addition to classic cars. This second collection has also been created from her cut-up quilts, leftover painted fabric pieces, vintage men’s ties, wool scraps and lots of threadwork. Take a walk down memory lane and enjoy the rides as you view these and the hundreds of other quilts, wearable art, sewing, wool and fiber art at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza.

So bring the person in your family that would appreciate these works of automotive art as you will also appreciate the quilting involved to make them. Be inspired to make your own quilted textile work of art that brings back fond memories of your first car, motorcycle and, yes, even a bicycle.  Whether you use your current stash of fabric or shop the vast Quiltfest merchants’ mall; you will be sure to find everything you need to make your own heirloom quilt this September at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza.

Ready … Set … Quilt!
at the 22nd annual
Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza

You are invited to celebrate the world of quilting as the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XXII returns to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA, September 17-20, 2015. This longstanding event remains a spectacular show of creation, innovation, and education. Show-goers will enjoy a unique and beautiful display of over 600 quilts and works of textile and wearable art from across the globe. Plus, as past visitors know, the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza would not be complete without its amazing Merchants Mall filled to the brim with vendor booths, offering everything the quilter, textile artists and needle crafter needs to quench their creative thirsts.

This year’s national prize money competition has been titled “ReadyPNQE14_1032a … Set … Quilt!,” challenging quilt artists to respond to “Creating a new quilt takes lots of planning from designing to selecting fabrics to … How do you get yourself to the starting line? What is your process?” In addition, special exhibitions will fill the aisles with hundreds of works by quilt artists from around the globe. In all, over 600 quilts and works of textile and wearable art will be presented. Pictured: Welcome to My Universe by Elizabeth A Ohlson.

Talent, creativity and expertise surround the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza. An internationally renowned faculty will offer a wide variety of workshops for the beginner to the more advanced quilter and textile artist. Opportunities to learn new techniques and skills will be available with a wide array of workshops and lectures presented by the 2015 PNQE faculty that includes international instructor Jennie Rayment from England plus Frieda Anderson (IL), Lisa Calle (PA), Lenore Crawford (MI), Linda J Hahn (NJ), Laura Wasilowski (IL), Jodi Barrows (TX), Bobbie Bergquist (NH), Debora Konchinsky (PA), Susan Pelland (MA), Lisa Reber (PA) & Pat Yamin (NY).

In addition, featured once again will be Quilt-O on Friday, September 18 at 6 p.m. This “most fun you will have at a quilt show” event is hosted by Pat Yamin. The show will also offer educational and entertaining lectures, plus appraisals by Joyce Fischer. Seminar and other information may be found on the event’s website, www.quiltfest.com.

Mancuso Show Management & Quilts for Kids Join Forces

MANCUSO SHOW MANAGEMENT AND QUILTS FOR KIDS
JOIN FORCES AT THE
PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL QUILT EXTRAVAGANZA XXII

Mancuso Show Management is proud to support Quilts for Kids, Inc., a volunteer based charity that for over 15 years has been comforting children in need with the gift of beautiful handmade patchwork quilts. The charity will have a booth at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza.

Visitors to the booth have the opportunity to place some “Stitches of Love” into quilts that will be donated to Philadelphia region children’s hospitals. During show hours, visit the booth and quilt for a good cause. Hayes Sewing Machine Company has kindly provided the QFK’s booth with BERNINA sewing machines. Visitors can also sign up as volunteers, make donations and purchase fabric and quilt kits – all proceeds going towards the production of the children’s quilts.

Along with Quilts for Kids, Inc. Founding President, Linda Arye, many individuals and businesses support the charity’s cause. Their goal is to donate about 30,000 quilts each year. View the following documentary detailing this wonderful charity’s work – QFK Documentary. Today, the charity has 97 chapters in the US and in Canada. For more information on how to donate, join a chapter or volunteer, go to www.quiltsforkids.org or call 215-295-5484.

Visit the Quilts for Kids booth at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza to stitch some love into quilts that will make these children’s arduous journeys a little brighter, a littler snugglier, a little happier.
