Full-Day Workshop
9 am - 4 pm, Friday, September 18
Participants in the workshop will learn how to work through the color development and selection process to create beautiful quilts, work with interior design elements and other art projects using Jinny Beyer's Portable Palette. In the afternoon a small wall quilt of kittys from a simple yet whimsical tessellated paper foundation to show off your new skills in understanding value, shading and color.Paper foundation piecing techniques will be included.
Beginner/Confident Beginner Levels
Students to Provide
Basic sewing kit
Fabric scissors
Paper scissors
Seam ripper
Colored pencils - what you have on hand
Rotary cutter, Add-A-Quarter ruler and mat
Fabric: Ah, the choices..... this quilt block lends itself to at least four variations:
1. Nine patch with two colora
2. Simple shading from light to dark value of six fabrics in one colorway
3. Simple shading from light to dark value of six fabrics in two colors
You will need a minimum of 1/8 yard for each fabric. There are two sizes of blocks to choose from (2" and 3") so not much fabric is needed. It depends on the size of the wall quilt you wish to make. Bring extra fabric to play with.
