CARLY MUL
PALec101 - Trends in the Quilting World
1 pm, Thursday, September 11

In this lecture, I talk about the importance and non-importance of trends. Where can we find them? What’s going on in the business of quilting? What are the latest trends in design and color?

PAT YAMIN
PALec102 - Where Have All the Quilters Gone?
1:30 pm, Friday, September 12

Pat Yamin has passionately collected antique quilt tops for over 50 years. Some are hand stitched while others are machine sewn. (Don't forget - sewing machines became popular about 1860.) Her entire collection is 100% cotton and in excellent condition - some have amazing seams as narrow as 1/8"!

This past summer Pat decided some of her treasures needed new homes. She loves them all and hates to part with them but has simply run out of storage space! Pat's quilt tops came from all over the United States - from California to Massachusetts - and their history is mostly unknown. What happened to the maker? Why was the quilt abandoned? Did chores, family obligations or personal tragedies eliminate time for completion? Sadly, we'll probably never know for sure. But if you join Pat for her lecture, she'll share with you her fascinating ideas of what might have been!

At the end of Pat's lecture, there will be time to ask any questions you might have. Photo-taking is permitted and all of the quilt tops will be for sale so if you are interested, please bring cash or a check. We are thrilled that Pat is coming to PNQE and that our attendees have the first opportunity to buy one or more of her antique quilt tops. We hope you will join Pat for this one-time event and take home one of her treasures. Checks and cash only, sorry no credit cards.

MARGE TUCKER
PALec103 - Improv and Abstraction in Antique Quilts
11 am, Saturday, September 13

Some of our quilting ancestors were ahead of their time! We are not the first generation of quilters to discover improvisational quilting; but we may be the ones who have embraced it and made it mainstream. In this trunk show, I display antique and vintage quilts from my collection that are so unique and creatively constructed.  As well as the antique quilts, I will also share some of my quilts inspired by these antique quilts. So much inspiration and some great lessons can be learned from these graphic and abstract “antiques!”

DANA BALSAMO
PALec 104 - Evaluating Your Quilts - Is it a Treasure?
1 pm, Saturday, September 13

Have you ever come across an antique or vintage quilt and wondered about its value? Join AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, Dana Balsamo, as she explores the key factors used to determine a quilt’s worth. Discover the importance of quilt appraisals, the different types available, and the methods professionals use to assess value. Dana will also share insights into current trends in the quilt market. If time allows, she may select a quilt or two from the audience for a live Verbal Evaluation demonstration.
