Bobbi Penniman - Piecing
Bobbi Penniman
Elkins Park, PA
Bobbi has been sewing since her feet hit the treadle at about age 8, thanks to a fat telephone book. Her mom was a prolific and highly skilled quiltmaker whose work often featured scrappy quilts, and this dual love was her legacy! A lifetime love of sewing and quiltmaking ensued thanks to mom’s teaching, and guidance.
Bobbi has worked alongside Kaffe Fassett and Liza Lucy since their first book was published in 1997, and continues to contribute by stitching and quilting many quilts for their publication, and also for other notable quiltmakers. She has taught many techniques to guilds and groups, in shops and at
shows, ranging from simple beginner projects to English Paper Piecing, and intricate foundation piecing. She is especially renowned for her ongoing series of Temperature Quilts. She has exhibited quilts in many shows in competition and in specialized exhibits.
Bobbi is enthusiastic and a very generous and supportive teacher, encouraging students to explore, to be willing to make mistakes and learn how to fix whatever has gone awry. But sometimes those awry moments can be ah ha’s, and lead to unexpected and greater results!
