Michael Eason - English Paper Piecing

Michael Eason is a quilt artist, designer, and educator with more than 20 years of quilting experience. His work centers on English Paper Piecing, but rarely in the way you might expect. Drawn to improvisation, unconventional shapes, and the possibilities that emerge when traditional techniques are approached differently, Michael uses EPP as a starting point for exploration rather than a set of rules to follow.

As an instructor, Michael is passionate about making the creative process approachable. Whether students are designing their own improvisational EPP composition or exploring the unusual geometry of Einstein tiles, his goal is to take away the intimidation, encourage experimentation, and give students the confidence to make their own creative decisions. Michael teaches for quilt festivals, guilds, retreats, and online quilting communities and has exhibited his work in juried quilt shows. Through Quilchemy, he continues to develop original patterns and workshops that bring a contemporary perspective to the tradition of hand stitching.
