Joyce Hughes - Thread Painting

Joyce Hughes of Asbury, NJ, is an award-winning, self-taught quilter, fiber artist, and author. After creating her first quilt, a T-shirt quilt, Joyce quickly realized she wanted greater artistic freedom. Within months, she began designing pictorial landscape quilts using raw-edge appliqué, thread painting, and embellishments. Unaware of the “rules,” she broke many of them ... with exciting results! Her first art quilt, Mother’s Day, won a blue ribbon at a national show, launching a career filled with awards and opportunities.

Joyce has been a McCall’s Quilting Designer, endorsed by Northcott and Timeless Treasures, and an ambassador for Mettler Threads and Brother Sewing. She is the author of Creating Art Quilts with Panels and Thread Paint a Garden Quilt. Joyce loves teaching and sharing her techniques, especially her signature Dimensional Thread Painting.
