6-Hour Workshop
12 pm - 6 pm EST, Saturday, January 23
Want to learn Dimensional Thread Painting, but you think it is too hard? In this class, you will start with a Beautiful Panel to create a piece of Art! You will learn the proper steps of Dimensional Thread Painting and find it to be a fun and creative technique. Explore various thread selections, setting up your machine for stitching techniques, including free-motion quilting with zigzag and straight stitching. See the fabric come to life as you sew and layer the threads on top of your design. You will use Thread as Paint –sew with different types of threads and color combinations. Learn how to create interesting texture and dimension to your quilting project. You will leave with a full knowledge of Dimensional Thread Painting and create a one-of-a-kind piece of Art!
Techniques Taught: Dimensional Thread Painting, Chrystal Embellishment, Blocking and Squaring a Quilt, and More!
All Levels
The workshop fee includes the $75 class kit. The Class Kit includes an exclusive printed panel and 17 threads for Top and Bobbins. Please note: Physical kits can only be mailed within the continental United States.
Students to Provide
PLEASE KNOW HOW TO DROP YOUR FEED DOGS, ATTACH THE CORRECT FOOT, AND THE CORRECT SETTINGS ON THE MACHINE TO DO FREE MOTION QUILTING BEFORE CLASS. Testing your machine before class for Free Motion Quilting is very helpful!
Machine:
-Free motion foot/ Darning foot (Machine and foot must be able to do zig-zag).
-Open Toe Foot for doing decorative stitches
-Please bring the machine manual in case of any machine issues during class.
Supplies:
Cotton Backing and Batting (I use Warm N Natural- NO Polyester) cut to 20” x 24”
Extra EMPTY bobbins, minimum 5
Scissors to cut threads
Practice quilt sandwich, approx. 12 x 12
Needles - Topstitch #90/14 (Janome machines need a Purple Needle)
*** If you like to use gloves, table sliders, extension table, etc. for Free Motion Quilting, please bring to class!
