Quilting Appliqué on the Longarm: Plan, Embellish, Go!
Half-Day Workshop
9 am - 12 pm, Saturday, March 6
Take appliqué beyond traditional stitching and discover how your longarm can become a powerful tool for both securing and embellishing appliqué designs.
In this class, we’ll explore how to plan an appliqué project specifically with longarm quilting in mind, from choosing the right placement and stitching approach to deciding where quilting can become part of the design itself. You’ll learn ways to secure appliqué pieces, add texture and dimension, emphasize details, and use quilting lines to transform simple shapes into something much more dynamic.
We’ll also discuss thread choices, stitching order, design planning, and practical techniques that help keep appliqué work clean, controlled, and visually balanced.
Whether you enjoy traditional appliqué, raw-edge designs, modern motifs, or highly embellished quilts, this class will give you new ideas for combining appliqué and quilting into one creative process.
Come ready to plan, experiment, embellish - and go!
All Levels
Required class kit, $45 payable to the instructor in class, includes fabric for top and back, batting, appliqué, laser-cut pieces, straight ruler, marker, and printouts. Also available for optional purchase in class: various quilting rulers, $10-$100.
