Intro to Free-Motion Quilting
Half-Day Workshop

9 am - 12 pm, Friday, March 5

Take the fear out of Free Motion quilting and learn how easy it can be to quilt your own quilts. This class is for beginners or those who need a refresher on the basics. Includes: setting up the machine, preparing the quilt, the “how-to” of the quilting, lots of designs and practice, how to deal with a large quilt, and how to overcome common problems. Detailed handout. While geared for quilting on a home machine, the "how-to" and designs are definitely applicable to longarmers.

Students to Provide
 - Sewing machine & accessories. IMPORTANT: machine needs to be prepared for free motion quilting - quilting foot and feed dogs down.

 - 2 to 3 small quilt sandwiches (12”x12” to 14”x18” muslin or plain fabric on top, any cotton fabric on back with batting). Could be any size that easily fits on the sewing machine.

- machine quilting thread that contrasts to fabric top

- bobbin thread to contrast with top thread and backing fabric (in order to best see your tension). Thinner thread in the bobbin works well.
