Machine Quilting Essentials (Learn to Machine Quilt and Love It!)
Full-Day Workshop
9 am - 4 pm, Saturday, February 28
Learn the fundamentals of machine quilting on the home sewing machine. Start with a discussion on thread, needles and notions. Next, practice the basic techniques of straight line and free motion machine quilting on small quilt sandwiches. Stipple quilting and marked designs will be covered. With Sue’s patient guidance learn all the basic skills needed to machine quilt on your home sewing machine. Please note- Students will stitch using pre-printed squares provided by Sue.
All Levels
Required class kit, $15* payable to the instructor in class, includes six pre-printed practice squares and thread. *Please bring cash to pay Sue Nickels for class kit fee.
Students to Provide
*Scissors or snips for clipping threads (Curved tip snips available for purchase in class - $20.00)
*Quilting gloves (Sue likes Graberoos brand) or Quilters Fingertips- Sue uses fingers cut off of good quality kitchen gloves (playtex or Mr. Clean)
* Six 12" squares muslin or off-white cotton fabric
* Six 12" squares cotton or cotton blend batting
* 50 safety pins (Sue uses size 1)
