Once Upon a Stitch
Full-Day Workshop
9 am - 4 pm, Friday, February 27
Gather up the bits and pieces of treasured fabrics (and scraps, including left over blocks or blocks that did not turn out as expected) and turn them into a small story quilt (5” x 5”). We will use a variety of hand stitches to complete the “story” which we will develop as we continue this free form style. No machines required. You will leave with a piece of art ready to hand on the wall!
All Levels
Students to Provide
Basic sewing kit to include:
Scissors
Fabric (see below)
Thread: sewing thread, embroidery and wool threads..... what you have on hand
Straight pins
Sewing and embroidery needles
Background fabric 8" x 8"Scraps: coordinating (or not) fabrics, leftover pieced blocks to cut up
Embellishments: intriguing bits and pieces gathered over the years: buttons, trims, beads, whatnots
Needle threading aide, if needed
Mechanical pencil
Fabric eraser
Seam ripper
Small ruler
Band-aid
Sewing light: in case the room lighting is not bright enough
