Not Your Grandmother’s Wholecloth
Half-Day Workshop
1 pm - 4 pm, Friday, February 27
Ever contemplate creating a wholecloth, but not into the feathers? Join Patricia for a whole new take on wholecloth designs with nary a feather in sight. Using just a single template (aka ruler) and different movement techniques, you can create a small wholecloth with stunning effects. You’ll learn about using templates to create crosshatching that will change the whole look. She’ll show her techniques for creating the border using the same template.
All Levels
Students to Provide
1 of the following templates in the appropriate thickness for your machine:
Bird Bracket Chain, Inside S, Nested Petal
2 fabric sandwiches approximately 10”- 14” square
1 fabric sandwich approximately 20”-24” square
Note: Fabric sandwiches should be plain fabric
Contrasting thread to the fabric sandwiches (so you can see the quilting pattern). Use whatever thread your machine prefers.
Fabric Marking tool
Rulers for marking long guidelines.
8-point and/or 6-point stencil for marking lines in blocks (can also use your rulers)
Table or large surface to support fabric sandwiches and templates (cannot use just the freearm portion of your machine).
Supreme slider, sew slip, glider, or some type of product that aids the fabric in moving on the table
Quilting gloves (only if you find them helpful)
Notebook or artbook if you like to draw out the designs created. (colored pencils might be nice, but not necessary)
Grippy spray
