Discover the magic of creating indigo fabric in a hands-on workshop! This brand-new class is an introduction on how to create fabric using Joyce’s NEW INDIGO FORMULA with Tsukineko inks. Learn basic techniques such as pleating, twisting, and crunching. Students will create unique pieces that reflect their personal style, from bold geometric designs to soft, organic patterns. No prior experience is needed—just a sense of curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little blue. Come ready to play, discover, and be amazed by the timeless beauty of indigo!
All Levels
Required Kit: $30, payable to the instructor includes indigo inks and tools for creating fabrics.
Students to Provide
Masking tape or painter's tape
Paper towels
Brown lunch paper bag (for trash)
Barbasol foam shaving cream
(3) 2oz CLEAR spray bottles with one-third of 70% or 91% rubbing alcohol
(3) 2 oz Clear squirt bottles
small container with lid, approximately 12 x 6 x 4 (Sterlite shoe storage, or similar)
Cotton Fabrics
- (6) pieces of 6" square white
- (6) pieces of 6" square white printed
- (6) pieces 13" square white
- (2) pieces of 3" x 22" white printed
- (2 or 3) pieces of 6" square UGLY (“What was I thinking”) fabrics that are a challenge to use and modify to make “prettier”
Clothes Hanger with Clips (HOLDS FABRIC IN THE AIR WHILE SPRAYING)
Sleeve protector, Apron, Plastic gloves, and Scissors.
All supplies are available in Joyce's booth - fabric inks, fiber art supplies, brushes & sponges, and stencils.
