Beginning Ruler Work Quilting
Half-Day Workshop
1 pm - 4 pm, Friday, February 27
Get started with ruler work quilting on your home sewing machine. This class is a basic introduction to using a simple, aff ordable ruler to make a wide variety of designs. Time in class will be available for demonstrating other types of rulers for you to try. Along with a minimal investment and patient instruction and guidance from Emma Jane, practice and determine if ruler work quilting is right for you.
All Levels
Students to Provide
Come to class with one 26” x 26” basted quilt sandwich. Make it with a solid (or close to solid) color fabric, and batting of your choice. Spray basting is recommended for ease during the quilting process. Draw or sew four 6" squares in the middle like the sample photograph.
-40 weight cotton contrasting color thread of your preferred quilting thread brand.
-Matching 50 weight cotton thread for bobbins. Guitermman, Aurifi l, Superior are good quilting thread brands.
-One pack of quilting needles size 80/12.
-Sewing machine with ruler foot, and basic sewing machine supplies.
-Fabric marking tool
-Ruler for marking, suggested 12"x3" or whatever you have.
