In this workshop, you’ll learn construction methods to create your own version of the lovely Goldfinch. Raw edge applique adds to the beauty and ease of stitching these pieces. You will be guided you through the process with lots of tips and techniques developed to bring these joyful magical creatures to life in a mixed media textile arts style.

Fabrics: all prewashed except for the organza
For the Bird: Cotton or silk
- Bright yellow, upper body, 4” x 6”
- Off-white, belly area, 2” x 5”
- Black, solid or mottled, 7" x 5"
For the Background: Cotton, silk, or linen
- 14” x 18”: Light colored fabric you can see through for marking
- Scraps of vintage fabrics and handmade papers

Embroidery Floss and Threads
- DMC Cotton Embroidery Floss, one skein each for the bird. Additional colors of floss to coordinate with your background.
- Regular sewing thread to match the the bird fabrics for applique (if you have it).
Papers: Freezer paper (from the grocery store)
