Students to Provide
This workshop focuses on creating a scrappy quilt using a single block reworking the block to transform it into a scrappy block. Creating a quilt with the block results in amazing designs and the results are often not what was expected.

Workshop project is 36" square

Fabric: Scraps
Controlled scrappy is about having a good range of fabric scraps that coordinate and work together to create a harmonized colour palette. Creation of colour palettes, value and fabric selection will be discussed and demonstrated in the workshop.

Scraps in multiple colours and values from light to dark. Variety is good - solids, prints, geometrics, florals, tone on tones, etc.

Pre-cuts also work great as scraps - charm packs (5" sqs), layer cakes (10" sqs), fat quarters, fat eighths and jelly rolls (2 ½" strips)

Yardage can also be used for this workshop in replace of scraps.

Fabric: Background
Neutral colour such as black, grey, white, cream, or dark blue, purple, brown - a solid or tone on tone fabric work well or ones with a subtle print - 1.5 yards

The background fabric should allow the scrap fabric of the block design to stand out and say wow look at me here we are.

Backing & Batting
