Zwirnknopf Buttons, also known as shirt lace buttons, are a more modern innovation than the traditional Dorset button, dating back to the Edwardian era at the beginning of the twentieth century. Start with the six-pointed Star button, progress to the Austrian Shirtlace, and finish with the slightly trickier but most popular Lace Shirtwaist. Finish our time together as a fully trained buttoner!
All Levels
The class pattern (single page, color) is included in the class fee and will be digitally sent by QuiltFest. Please print before class.
Students to Provide
To make 5 buttons:
5, 1-1/2" plastic rings
3 weight perle cotton or sock weight yarn (minimum 20yds)
size 16 darning needle
blended beeswax (eg Sewfine Thread gloss)
small scissors
