Jenny Haynes - Piecing
Jenny Haynes
Sheffield, England
After studying Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in Stockholm, and then Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion, Jenny Haynes developed ’Papper, Sax, Sten’. A challenge to the traditional approach, pushing boundaries and defining a style that became synonymous with Jenny Haynes - and along the way, influencing both established and experimental designers.
Jenny has been published in magazines and books, has exhibited in art galleries internationally and has won awards for her quilting. Jenny makes for a popular choice at museums and art retreats internationally, counting amongst her masterclass venues such prestigious institutions as the V&A (London), Textiel Museum (The Netherlands), Grampians Textiles (Australia) and Empty Spools Seminars and MISA (USA).
Many students under Jenny’s tutelage are textile artists who have gone on to win awards. Her workshops detail her complex technical approach and craftsmanship, taking in aspects such as construction, colour theory and composition whilst also serving as a guide to developing an individual style.
