Create a modern Dresden wall hanging or full-sized quilt with no fussy layout and a choice of multiple backgrounds. We will learn one edge technique for the Dresdens with multiple-sized "plates." Use bright, large print fabrics or subtle hues or even solids. The backgrounds are created with large squares and rectangles for easy construction. Ideal for scraps or favorite fabrics. Backgrounds can be from multiple fabrics or just a few.

Modern Dresden Wall Hanging (42" x 63") (The Prince) or Modern Dresden Queen (84" x 84")

Sewing & Tools
- Sewing machine in good working order with a ¼" foot
- Basic sewing supplies: neutral thread, pins, seam ripper, scissors, marking tool
- Purple Thang or point turner (bone turner recommended)
- Rotary cutter and cutting mat
- 18° wedge ruler (Creative Grids or similar)
- 3½" circle template (4 ½” if different wedge ruler used)
- Cardboard or cardstock rectangle
- Optional: Clover Hot Hemmer or Susan Cleveland Prairie Point Turner
Pressing & Notions
- Pellon lightweight fusible interfacing (906F), 18" piece
- Freezer paper, 18"
- Pressing bar (helpful for seams)
- Pinking scissors (optional)
- Design wall (optional but helpful)
- Ironing surface
Additional Materials
- (1) 12" square freezer paper
- (2) 4" squares freezer paper
- 4" squares Pellon fusible (start with ½ yard)
- 3½" and 4½" circle templates (size depends on ruler used)

Wall Hanging
Background (can be pieced fabrics or variety to equal yardage)
- Fabric A: 1½ yards
- Fabric B: 1 yard
- Fabric C: 1 1/4 yards
Prints or Solids: Wedges for plates
- (5) 7" x WOF strips (various fabrics)
- (2) 5" x WOF strips (complementary fabrics for layering)
Centers:
- (5) 5" squares (coordinating fabrics)
Queen Quilt
Background (can be pieced fabrics or variety to equal yardage)
- Fabric A: 2 yards
- Fabric B: 1 yard
- Fabric C: 2 ½ yards
