Betsy Habich: Miss Minnow Cat Thread Painting, Price Includes $30 Class Kit (6 hr WS, Fri, 10/16/26, 10am-4pm EDT)

Miss Minnow Cat was a long-haired tuxie with a sweet smile and a silly streak! Learn how to effectively thread paint blacks and whites so they have shape and texture, and how to make cat eyes, ears, and nose. We will start off with warm-up exercises to balance your sewing machine tension, and practice free-motion straight-stitch and zig-zag stitching, then move to pen and paper exercises to analyze the color and line of Miss Minnow's portrait. With these skills in hand, we will then move on to Minnow herself. Lots of fun, and you'll be amazed at what you can do!
All Levels

The workshop fee includes the $30 class kit. The Class Kit includes:
- 2 pre-made fused quilt sandwiches (project, and exercises)
- 2 color prints of project for exercises
- five warm-up exercises
- directions for making and finishing the thread painting. 


Students to Provide
- sewing machine capable of dropping its feed dogs
- free-motion embroidery foot for your machine
- size 14 topstitch needles
- 4 bobbins, loaded with black, white, eye color, and background color
- size 50, 2-ply thread in a range of dark colors (black, dark gray, dark dark blue brown, and grays), white and close colors (cream, very-very light gray, off-whites, etc.), eye colors (blue, green, white, black), background colors
- steam iron and ironing surface; parchment paper or other non-stick sheet
- 5 cotton swabs plus your sewing machine's cleaning tools
-sharp pointed scissors to cut threads very close to the surface
- sewing machine manual (read and practice cleaning your sewing machine before class)
