Mark L Sherman - Tennessee

Remarkable Hand Applique by Machine, Full Day Workshop
Friday, October 13, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

I have had a passion for applique since the day that I started quilting. At that time, I used a fusible method but I did not like the fact that the appliques were stiff and difficult to quilt. The only other option was hand applique but with my very large hands I saw this as something almost impossible. Necessity being the mother of invention I came up with this method of applique and have used it ever since for all of my prize winning quilts. The stitches are perfect and the applique edges are turned. A hundred years from now my appliques will still hold up and be looking fantastic. I had designed a Remarkable butterfly for my students which is part of the mandatory class kit. Open up your quilting world to making gorgeous, soft appliques with hidden stitches, all done by machine! All levels.
Materials List: Required class kit, $50 payable to instructor. The kit includes everything you need to learn the method and finish your project. Students bring to class: Full size sewing machine in good working order with an open toe foot and accessories (this is optional as we will spend most of the time making the appliqués for the butterfly). Elmer’s Washable School Glue. Small Scissors. Cotton Batting. Five Fat Quarters to make your appliques (I carry my ReMARKable Hand Dyed Fabrics in all colors that you might want to purchase, $5.50.) Sewing machine optional.
