Join us for a day featuring amazing quilts and two studio tours! We’ll begin at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles with the Museum’s Director Nancy Bavor and Exhibits Curator Amy DiPlacido, leading you on a private tour of the Museum’s exhibitions. Visitors may get to see installation crew put finishing touches on four new exhibitions, Stories of West Africa: Hollis Chatelain, Know Your Meme: Stitching Viral Phenomena, 2nd Biennial Members Exhibition, Annual Benefit Auction. In addition, visitors will get a behind the scenes tour of the Museum’s Collection area and a chance to view some of the newest acquistions. Next, board the tour bus for Sunnyvale where we will visit the studio of Sheila Collins. Sheila Collins is a fabric artist, designer, teacher, and pattern maker. She combines her backgrounds in fashion design, graphic design, and love of sewing to create dimensional fabric art that is bright, cheerful and fun. After the morning studio visit, we’ll travel to downtown Danville, the “Heart of the San Ramon Valley”, and have lunch (on your own) in one the town’s charming bistros. Then, there will be time for shopping at the wonderful Wooden Gate Quilts. Our second studio tour will be with Laura Fraga. Laura Fraga is an award-winning quilter who began in 1990 and has been teaching since 2000. She is known for her hand appliqué and precision piecing. Laura teaches and lectures on the Dear Jane Quilt (Jane Stickles civil war quilt). Visit www.laurafragaquilts.com. You’ll return to PIQF filled with new ideas and inspiration for future projects! The Quilters Adventure Tour, led by professional guide Barbara Lockwood, includes transportation on a deluxe tour bus and Museum admission. Meals are not included.
