Wearable Art Competition Rules

Please Read Carefully

1. Open to all, but must be the work of the person or group applying to the competition. Limit of 2 entries per person or group. Family members/permanent employees of show management or sponsors are not eligible. Garment(s) must be constructed by person(s) named on entry blank.
2. Full ensembles or individual articles of wearable art (a vest, jacket or coat) may be entered in the competition. No items constructed from kits are allowed.
3. Category definitions: Individual article: a vest, jacket or coat. Full ensemble: garment or group of garments that need no other items to make it ready to wear in public. Examples: suit ensemble, dress, evening gown or pants outfit.
4. Garments winning cash or sewing machine prizes at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival or Pacific International Quilt Festival are not eligible to be judged.
5. Entries must have been finished in 2015, 2016 or 2017 and be in excellent condition.
6. Entry must have a cloth label with the name, address and telephone number of the entrant securely sewn to the inside.
7. Ship the entry in a sturdy carton. Place the item(s) in a sturdy plastic bag. Do not use Styrofoam or cellulose packing products of any kind. Cost of return shipping and insurance in return transit will be the responsibility of show management. Original carton will be used to return the item via UPS or other designated carrier. Please remove all old shipping labels from the carton prior to shipping.
8. Entries must be available for display at Pacific International Quilt Festival, October 12-15, 2017, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, California.
9. If an entry is to be hand-delivered to the festival and/or personally picked up from the festival, the show management must be notified in writing prior to September 22, 2017 on the form enclosed in acceptance letter.
10. If an entry is to be return shipped to an address other than the one entered on this form, show management must be notified in writing of this change prior to September 22, 2017. All foreign entries must be return shipped to their point of origin.
11. If accepted, submitted digital images become the property of the Pacific International Quilt Festival for publicity and/or publication use.
12. Prize winners will be notified within thirty (30) days. Viewer’s Choice will be presented at Show & Tell on Saturday, October 14, 2017.
13. Filing of your signed application signifies agreement with these conditions.
14. Judges reserve the right to not award a prize in a given category if there are insufficient entries in a specific category.
15. The awarding of any prize makes the entry ineligible for any lesser prize. Viewer’s Choice award is exempt from this rule.

Garment Return
Entries will be returned via United Parcel Service (or other designated shipper) within 48 hours of close of the Festival. Cost of the return shipping will be paid by PIQF. Items will be insured for $500 US each on return shipping. 

Important Note: Foreign entries MUST be shipped to the event only via the PIQF designated carrier. (Complete information will follow upon acceptance.)

Competition Calendar
August 29, 2017
Entry form must be received  no later than August 29, 2017.

ENTRY FEE (domestic and foreign entries): $23.00 US, includes return shipping.

September 11, 2017
Notification of decision of jurors, and instructions for garment shipment will be sent to entrants.

October 5-9, 2017
Entries accepted must be shipped / delivered to PIQF designated delivery location for judging and exhibition. Not to arrive prior to Thursday, October 5 nor later than Monday, October 9, 2017.

Terms & Conditions
Entry of the above item means that I will abide by the rules and decisions of the judges. I / We acknowledge that Mancuso Show Management will take every precaution to protect this garment, but understand that show management cannot be responsible for acts of nature, casualty, war, government regulation, civil disorder, terrorism, disaster, strikes, or any other cause of emergency beyond their control. 
Photography/Images: As an entrant my signature grants the Pacific International Quilt Festival and its designated sponsors the right to photograph my garment for publication, advertising or promotional use. Images of accepted garments become the property of the Pacific International Quilt Festival.
