Inside out modern quilting: one shape, no seams, no limits!
Full-Day Workshop
12pm-6pm EST, Friday, February 26

Make your own version of my award-winning Inside Out quilt which is a great example of how using simple shapes combined with a minimal amount of color doesn’t necessarily result in a boring quilt. Make your version using solids and/or prints in any color combination that appeals to you! Create a lap quilt, wall hanging or table runner .

Students to Provide

Fabric: You will need to choose two colors to work with. For my quilt, I used light gray, dark gray (and white) but you can work with whatever colors (solids, prints, batiks etc) you prefer.
Color 1 - 1 yard
Color 2 - 1 yard
White fabric - 1 yard
Black fabric - 1 yard
Muslin - 1 yard (we will be using this as the backing so any cotton fabric will do)
Mistyfuse fusible web
Wool felt (NOT acrylic felt) or quilt batting. One piece at least 36” x 45” Note that I use wool felt for my middle layer in my quilted wall hangings but you can use quilt batting if you prefer. You can buy National NonWovens brand of wool felt (usually an 80/20 rayon/wool blend) at most Joannes fabric stores.
Reynolds Brand parchment paper (NOT freezer paper)
Tracing paper

Black Sharpie Marker (or brand of your choice)
Paper: printer paper will work fine. You’ll need a dozen or so pieces
Blue painters tape can be very helpful to have on hand
Assortment of threads to match your fabrics including black thread
Rotary cutter, mat, and scissors
Iron and pressing surface
