Architecture Quilt
Full-Day Workshop
9 am - 4 pm, Friday, February 28
Learn to create vibrant and playfully colorful architecture quilts with proper perspective. Yu will resize your photo before class (instructions in the supply list). It is important that you choose an image that is not too complicated for this one-day class. You will trace your image and learn to do fused raw edge applique. Basic straight stitching with monofilament or matching thread is used to stitch down all elements before quilting. Quilting and facing will be demonstrated and discussed.

Fused Quilt
You will base your quilt on a photograph of a building or neighborhood. Decide how large you want your quilt to be then increase your photograph to that size (see below).
I recommend Rapid Resizer – price ranges from $39 - $119 per year. It has a lot of features I use for other things so I have the Pro Version.
https://www.rapidresizer.com/ I made a little tutorial for how to use Rapid Resizer which you may watch here: https://vimeo.com/527980039/df97a6862a
None of the above options work for you? Many of you have the Microsoft Paint app on your computer and I found this very clear step-by-step tutorial. It shows you how to print a large image on multiple pieces of 8.5″ x 11″ paper in Paint then tape the pieces together.
I just uploaded my image, changed it to fit 2 x 2 pages in the Print settings just like they instructed. That made my image twice as large. It was a little blurry but worked very well.
You can then tape the picture on a window, tape some tracing paper or freezer paper over the picture, take your sharpie and trace.

Please do this ahead of time so we can hit the ground running in class. If you have questions or get stuck email me and I will be happy to help you. rachelderstine@artfulquiltingandsewing.com
For a one-day workshop you will not need to bring your sewing machine.
