Pepper Cory Beaufort, North Carolina Pepper, a quilt maker since 1972, collects quilts, makes quilts, writes books about them, designs needlework tools, and shares her love of quilting by teaching. Materials List: A cushion to either sit on or rest your hands on at the table as you work. Small sharp embroidery scissors, favorite thimble. Pair of inexpensive white acrylic sport socks. An Ott light if you want better light on your handwork. Class kit, $15, includes pre-sewn patchwork block, batting square, backing square, pack of assorted Big Stitch needles, a ball of Finca perle cotton and a quilt marking stencil. Adventures on the Drunkard's Path, Full Day Saturday, 11/13/2010 - 11/13/2010, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM The Drunkard’s Path is one quilt pattern you’ve always wanted to try. This class introduces the art of machine-sewing curves in an easy and understandable fashion and showcases both traditional Drunkard’s Path quilts from Pepper’s personal collection plus exciting contemporary variations. Learn color tips, sewing how-to, and stretch your creativity by trying the DP block combined with an easy Star pattern. All levels.
Materials List: Sewing machine threaded and in good running condition. Pencil, eraser, and sharpener, fine-tip Sharpie black pen, colored pencils already sharpened, rotary square (suggestion: the 12 ½” from either Omnigrid or Creative Grids), 45 mm rotary cutter with new blade, smaller rotary mat. Flowerhead straight pins, scissors for both paper and fabric, thread nippers, seam ripper, and lots of fabrics. Fabric choices - bring at least 4 yds total (fat quarters OK) of mixed prints in the color scheme of your choice. Include some black and white prints and feel free to add stripes, checks (geometrics) to the mix. Don’t bring all fabrics from the same designer or line since variety is what makes this pattern work.
