Sew this 17” block by hand simply with only 2 pieces of fabric, a light backing and a dark motif. Learn to use the template free / no little pieces / back basting method of appliqué. While the class stitches, Phyllis will show actual historic indigo/white and red/white quilts from her collection and talk about the dramatic impact of two color quilts. All levels. Materials List: Two pieces of fabric, pre-washed and pressed: 18” x 18” dark fabric (small scale print or solid) for motif and an 18” 18” light fabric (solid or very subtle print) for background. Appliqué thread exactly matching the dark fabric, white or light quilting (thick) thread for basting. Needles: appliqué and a thicker needle for basting. Pins. Thimble. Blue water soluble marker (new, not used - very important). Regular pencil. Very sharp, pointy embroidery scissors. Reading or magnifying glasses, if needed.
