Quilted Photography - Simple, Fast & Beautiful, Half Day
Thursday, 9/18/2014 - 9/18/2014, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Learn to transform ordinary fabric strips into unbelievably beautiful photographic quilts! The quilts look intricate and difficult to make, but it’s easy ... even if you are just beginning to quilt. Each quilted photo takes only a few hours to make and you’ll learn the simple technique that will reduce your sewing time by 85%. Your friends will be amazed when they realize your quilt is a photograph! Seen on HGTV and PBS. No sewing machine! Beginners take this class first. All levels. Materials List: Important: Please send your photograph to Tammie at least 10 days ahead of the class date. Your picture should have the face of one person or animal ... no landscapes and no flowers. I can crop the photo if needed. I will reply to your email only to confirm that I received your photo. The photo will be used to make the pattern you will use in class. If you do not send a photo on time, I will supply a beautiful pattern of my choice for you to use. Please put “Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza” in the subject line of your email. Attach the photo and include the class date, your name and phone number. Send photo to QuiltedClass@gmail.com. Kit fee, $43 payable to instructor. Kit includes lecture explaining the technique, printed pattern ($30 value), Steam-a-Seam 2, 18” x 20” ($6 value), Quilting Film ($5 value) and 12 fabrics for your project- 4 light, 4 medium and 4 dark pre-cut into 3/4” strips of each cut from selvage to selvage ($25 value). Students must bring to class small sharp scissors (I like 5” Fiskars), fabric organizer box (get it at the hardware or craft store - used for nuts & bolts or embroidery floss - needs at least 12 compartments), Scotch tape, paper scissors.
