Pat Harrison is a National Quilting Association Certified Master Judge, teacher, author, lecturer, designer, and award-winning longarm quilter. A retired school librarian and teacher, Pat has been longarm quilting since 1999. She has won numerous awards for her quilts at local, regional and international shows. Pat enjoys all aspects of quilting, especially all those little gadgets and tips that make quilting more successful and fun. She also enjoys designing quilts using EQ7 for herself and quilting magazines.

EQing the Day Away, Full Day

Spend the day getting better and better at using EQ7, so that by the end of the day you’ll be able to design a quilt of your own that includes a variety of blocks, your own color play, an automatic pieced border, and binding. You’ll also learn how to print yardages estimates, cutting diagrams and templates. The day will also include plenty of tips about quilt design and dynamic color harmonies. A trunk show of EQ designed quilts is included. Students will need their own laptop with EQ6 or 7 installed and activated, a wireless mouse, and a mouse pad. Beginner level. Materials List: Laptop with EQ7 installed, activated and validated. A wireless accessory mouse and a mouse pad.

Easy Peasey Circles, Full Day

Learn how to easily and evenly piece circles into your quilts using the “freezer paper frame- glue baste - heat set, stitch” method. All steps to this simply successful technique will be fully demonstrated. We’ll start the day with a jelly roll race complete with prizes, progress to planning the arrangement of circles, then move on to piecing circles directly into the jelly roll quilt top. A fun way to learn an amazing technique complete with samples galore to spark your creativity. Beginner level. Materials List: 30/40 strip jelly roll (2 1/2” strips). Fabrics for circle insets: 20 pieces ranging in size from 8” to 3” squares for gradating circles as in sample. Freezer paper. Elmer’s School Glue, small bottle. Hot iron, hard ironing surface. Sewing machine. Sewing supplies including paper scissors and fine point appliqué scissors. Heavy duty spray starch with cap. Small paint brush for starch. Compass for circle drawing. Optional: rotary circle cutter. Sewing machine required.

Scrappy Star Quilt, Full Day

An original pattern that includes a “trim to size” block that will just eat up all those scraps you’ve been saving. Each block is then sashed and a 4 or 8 pointed star cornerstone is inserted. The quilt is finished off with 2 thin borders and a wide scrappy piano key outer border with mitered corners. A number of piecing techniques are included as are fabric and color placement. You will finish a number of blocks and view demonstrations of all techniques. This quilt was featured in Fons & Porter Scrap Quilts. Intermediate level. Materials List: Bring your scraps or Background: 3/4 yd total (light). Blocks: 2 3/4 yd total (medium and darks). Inner sashings: 1/2 yd fabric (medium and darks). Cornerstones and Stars: 1/2 yd high contrast fabric, a zinger. Block sashings: 1/2 yd of a single coordinating fabric (medium/dark). Border 1 and 2: 1/2 yd each of two coordinating fabrics (medium/dark). Piano keys: 1 1/2 yd of assorted fabrics. Sewing supplies including ruler, rotary cutters, small cutting mat. Optional: 6” bias square ruler (That Patchwork Place, Inc.). Sewing machine. Iron, hard pressing board. 48” x 48” piece of flannel or batting for a design wall. Sewing machine required.
