SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS
From the Heart ‘From The Heart’ showcases European art quilting. Artists were asked to submit pieces expressing ideas or themes that were close to their hearts. Curators often find it difficult to select work that is synergistic; this exhibit almost selected itself. It forms a wheel of personal expression that begins with the whimsical, moves to fantasy and non-representational/abstract work, and continues through political expression and representation, finally circling back to whimsical art. Peg Keeney and Marion Barnett, co-curators. |

Fiber Force: A Futuristic Approach Lisa Chipetine, of Studio Art Quilt Associates, curated this collection of avant-garde works, procured from a consortium of international quilt and fiber artists that she considers trail blazers in the medium. This collection "breaks boundaries" and exhibits a "no rules" approach. The mission of the collection is to awaken the creative spirit of the viewer, and educate the audience as to the endless possibilities presented by inclusion of untraditional media into fabric based art. |
